In 2015, Eleanor Marsh began collecting first editions and rare volumes from estate sales across New England. What started as a personal passion on weekends — sifting through attic boxes in Connecticut barns and following leads at antiquarian fairs in Boston — quickly became a mission: to rescue forgotten literary treasures and connect them with readers who would truly cherish them.
The Quiet Corner Bookstore was born from a simple belief: a well-loved book carries the wisdom of its years and the joy of every reader who came before you. A dog-eared page is not a flaw; it is evidence that someone, somewhere, paused to think.
Eleanor spent two years acquiring inventory before selling a single book. By the time The Quiet Corner Bookstore quietly opened in late 2017, the collection held over 400 carefully chosen volumes spanning six decades of American and British publishing.
Today we are a small team of three. Our approach has never changed: every book deserves a second life with a reader who will love it as much as the first owner did.
